The Robinson Family

Ok, y’all—this one takes the cake. I had such a blast at this session. We rescheduled a few times—rainy season will do that to ya—but holy HECK did it work out! The sun, sky, temperature, everything about the conditions were perfect.

The real stars were the Robinson family, though. I still can NOT get over that beautiful copper-haired bunch. They were a bundle of laughs and romance (mom and dad are like, super in love).

I am so excited to share this session with y’all. I hope you love these just as much as I do!!

Abbie | Lotus Field Maternity

This week, the beautiful, pregnant goddess Abbie was in front of my camera! Since these lotus flowers are starting to bloom (and let’s be real, this Japanese flora is unbeatable) we ventured out to the fields for her maternity session.

Her blush dress from Maggie’s Boutique was absolutely perfect—especially against those giant green leaves! Not to mention the clouds SHOWED UP since we squeezed this in between showers (rainy season ain’t no joke, y’all). Honestly, I am just so thrilled to capture this time in her little family’s life. Congrats, Abbie—I can’t wait for y’all to be a family of FOUR!

Sakura Minis | Springtime in Japan

This spring, I had my FIRST EVER series of cherry blossom mini sessions! Of course, they didn’t all go completely according to plan…after some rescheduling, we were able to make sure everyone got stunning photos before the blossoms left forever!

I’m writing this blog post not ONLY to show you some sessions, but to show you WHEN and under what CONDITIONS they were taken. Basically…it doesn’t have to be golden hour with incredible sun to be wonderful. Some of these were taken early in the morning, before golden hour, at twilight, with full sun or even overcast! Despite the different conditions, they all ended up beautiful and unique, just like the sakura trees themselves.

Kyoto | Japan Weekend Trip

How do I fit everything in just a few paragraphs? My sister came in town for a couple weeks and before she came to Iwakuni, we met her up in Kyoto for a weekend. It’s a good thing she’s so organized…we KILLED it and saw SO MUCH in just two days!

My favorite part of the trip was seeing the Golden Temple…my daughter’s LEAST favorite part was meeting the monkeys. I’ll be honest…they were a little intimidating!

What a beautiful, incredible trip. Till next time, Kyoto ❤

The Shearl Wedding

Jenna and I first met when I was photographing her bridesmaid Courtney’s wedding (go check out the Hancock wedding while you’re here!) We met for a couple of brews and immediately hit it off—I knew then that this wedding was going to be a party for the ages.

First off, Ironclad Brewery is the coolest: the twinkling lights strung through the rafters, the humongous ceilings, and the exposed brick made it a downtown dream. The florals from Designs by Dillon were, of course, perfection. The people, though, were the best part—Jenna, Michael and their friends and family were some of the most kind, fun people you will ever meet.

Honestly, I don’t think I could possibly express how in love with this wedding I was. I am just so excited for Jenna + Michael to spend the rest of their lives together!

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Shearl!

The Ward Wedding

Susannah + Stephen are married, and oh man were all the sweat and tears getting here worth it! Belle Vue was such a beautiful ceremony space, The Terraces at Sir Tyler provided the perfect last-second reception venue, and every. little. piece. of the wedding was stunning.

With only 50 guests, the Wards had their closest family and friends with them, and the love was felt in every part of the wedding. From getting ready to the last dance at the reception, the emotion was overwhelming.

I’m so excited to share these photos with you, and I can’t wait to finish this entire gallery! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Ward!

The Baker Wedding

Rachel + Bradley tied the knot at Duplin Winery just a few weeks after Hurricane Florence devastated the Carolinas. Luckily, the venue was relatively unscathed…and provided a stunning backdrop for their wedding day!

The Bakers were unique in this day and age. They decided to forego the first look and jump right into the action during the ceremony. The twinkling lights overhead made the entire space magical, and portraits outside in the vineyard made it all just seem like a real-life fairytale (I mean…even the cake had glitter on it, y’all).

I’m so happy we were all able to come together in the wake of disaster (this is the kindest, sweetest couple and they deserve every bit of joy!) and celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs. Baker. Congrats, y’all!

Jennifer: A Bride + Her Pups

Jennifer + Dylan Forsythe are married, which means I can finally share these photos!

This bridal session was unlike any other: Jennifer brought her beautiful pups along with her to shoot her portraits. Riley and Cali looked so stunning and regal with their flower collars, and their momma was a vision in her wedding gown!

Congratulations to Jennifer + Dylan on officially taking their vows and becoming one (large and animal-filled) family!

The Pindt Wedding

I love everything about downtown Wilmington weddings—the river views, the cool air and especially the people. June 30, one of the coolest couples around tied the knot at Bakery 105 and it was nothing short of amazing!

Arianna and Paul did everything their way and partied all night long. Their ceremony was a tear-jerker, their reception a blast (those glowsticks thoughhh!) The florals were absolutely stunning (I was swooning over the boho vibes woven throughout all the decor). Instead of cake…DONUTS!

Thanks so much for letting me be a part of your day, y’all. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Pindt!

Mr. + Mrs. Thomas: A Biltmore Wedding

Another day, another stunning wedding. Seriously…how on earth did I get so lucky to have all these amazing, creative clients?! I traveled all the way to Asheville, North Carolina to photograph Kaylie + Kevin at the incredible, unbeatable Biltmore Estate. We had a jam-packed weekend, complete with a rehearsal, welcome party, and the actual wedding which lasted until 2 a.m.!

Every detail was meticulous, every piece curated and arranged to perfection. You'll see hand-painted pieces (including the Thomas's pups popping champagne), rustic decor and elegant light fixtures. Kaylie + Kevin truly incorporated their lives and personalities into this wedding and they shone through!

Your wedding was truly one for the books; thanks, Mr. + Mrs. Thomas, for inviting me along on this adventure. Congratulations, y'all!
